State Closes Case Against Authors of 'Toras ... - Yeshiva World News

Despite their best effort, the Reform Movement and others trying to imprison Rabbi Yosef Elitzur and Rabbi Yitzchak Shapira,?the authors of?Toras HaMelech, State Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein has closed the case.

Allegations against the rabbonim included the sefer violates Israeli law prohibiting incitement to violence, racism and related issues. The sefer, as explained by the rabbonim, addresses halacha as explained by the Rambam in a hypothetical and academic torah atmosphere, and as the book?s introduction says, was never intended to be a manual for assault against anyone, including Arabs, as alleged by the Israeli left.

Weinstein stated that after reviewing the sefer it is difficult for him to accept contentions that the book was written to incite violence or racism, and it simply explains religious views and must be permitted under the state?s value of freedom of religion. The attorney general also feels that the book in no way calls for violence against any sector of society.

If you have a headache, it?s likely you?re not thinking should I see my dentist? But maybe you should be. If you are suffering from headaches, your dentist may be able to help you get relief. There are many potential causes for your headaches that a dentist can help you with.

If you have chronic headaches, a dentist should probably not be the first place you go (though you might mention headaches at your next regular visit), but if you have already seen your doctor and you are not getting relief, perhaps a dentist should be your next step.

How Dental Problems Cause headaches

There are a number of types of dental problems that could potentially be causing your headaches, including

? Tooth problems such as an impacted or infected tooth
? Jaw problems, such as TMJ
? Sleep apnea

If your headache is due to any of these causes, a dentist may be able to get you relief.

Tooth Problems and Headaches

If you have an infected or impacted tooth, it could lead to chronic headaches. Pain from your tooth could be transferred to elsewhere in your face and head. Also, tooth problems can lead to swelling in the sinuses, which can cause a headache. And tension from tooth pain could contribute to a tension headache.

TMJ

TMJ, sometimes called TMD or temporomandibular joint disorder, is when the muscles, bones, and nerves of your jaw joints are not working together well. When this happens, your jaw muscles have to work extra hard and not very smoothly. An overgrown or out of place muscle can irritate nearby nerves and obstruct nearby blood vessels. Facial nerves run right by your jaw joint, and when they become irritated you may experience pain or numbness in the face and head. When blood flow is restricted it can trigger migraines. TMJ headaches can be cured through neuromuscular dentistry.

Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is when your breathing is interrupted during sleep. In the most common form, your breathing is interrupted because your tissues are literally choking you. This is often the result of a poorly positioned bite, which can be corrected using an oral splint or appliance that you put in your mouth while you sleep to hold your jaw, tongue, throat and other tissues where they need to be to keep your airway open.

So, in short if you have a headache, your dentist should not be your first stop, but it shouldn?t be your last, either. If you are a chronic headache sufferer in or around Ottawa, Ontario, visit the website of Dentistry at Main for more information.

How you can watch SpaceX's Dragon dock with the space station

You can have a ringside seat to witness the space station's robotic arm pull in Dragon, the first commercial spacecraft to visit the outpost. Time to watch is between 10 a.m. and noon EDT.

By Pete Spotts,?Staff writer / May 25, 2012

In this photo made available by NASA, the SpaceX Dragon commercial cargo spacecraft approaches the International Space Station on Thursday, May 24, 2012 for a series of tests to clear it for its final rendezvous and grapple on Friday, May 25.

If all continues to go well, by about 10 a.m. EDT, the craft will have moved to within 10 meters of the International Space Station. Space station flight engineer Don Petitt, the mission's grappler-in-chief, will use the station's Canadian-made robotic arm to grasp Dragon.

To watch the history-making event and listen to the play-by-play, point your Web browser to NASA-TV at http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html.

Although the process of grappling and berthing looks to be fairly simple, it isn't, notes astronaut Catherine Coleman, who grappled the Japanese HTV on its second supply mission to the station in January 2011. She likens it to trying to pass something from one car to another ? when both are traveling at interstate speeds.

On orbit, it's a Grey Poupon moment at 17,500 miles per hour between one vehicle that weighs more than 1 million pounds and another weighing a tiny fraction of that. Still, Dragon can inflict a world of hurt on the station if something goes wrong. Hence the delicate touch Petitt must apply and the slow pace he'll use to pull Dragon to the station's docking port.

Flight controllers are trying to maintain a schedule that allows Dragon's capture and berthing to take place during the sunlit portions of the station's 90-minute orbits.

Quickfund's Financing Solutions Rev up Small Business Growth in ...

San Fransisco, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 05/23/2012 -- Owners of small-to-medium enterprises have a lot on their plates. For companies that are expanding, there is even more to take care of and one wrong move could impact company growth for years to come. Having access to the proper financing resources is essential in attaining solid growth, but in the current economy it is sometimes easier said than done. This is especially true for small businesses, which require special services tailored to their needs.

A Sydney-based company called Quikfund has recently been getting a lot of attention from small-to-medium business owners in Australia thanks to its specialised business equipment financing services. Because Quikfund only works with SMEs, the company knows how to help these businesses lease and rent equipment in the most cost effective way possible.

A range of equipment such as photocopiers, telephone systems, security systems, point-of-sales systems and commercial audiovisual systems is all within the reach of small business owners thanks to Quikfund?s financing solutions. The company?s website features full descriptions of all the financing solutions offered, including equipment rental plans, financial lease plans and commercial hire purchase options.

When it comes to growing a business, purchasing equipment may not be the smartest choice for business owners. Instead, Quikfund Rental could be the best option for fast-growing companies. ?By renting business equipment rather than buying it outright you can have the option of upgrading to new technology when required. This frees you up to invest in other business developments and ensures you will not be stuck with fixed assets that become obsolete and are difficult to on-sell,? explains Quikfund.

Leasing offers similar benefits because lessees do not have to tie up their cash in fixed assets, allowing them to invest in other developments. A commercial hire purchase enables the customer to gain equity in the asset over the term of the agreement. Although these financing options may seem complex at first, full and easy-to-understand explanations are provided on the Quickfund website.

Even equipment providers will find interesting information on the Quickfund website, which explains how vendors can join the company?s network of dealers. Quickfund declares, ?We are focused on providing a seamless finance process for equipment sold and serviced by our affiliated dealers in all Australian States.?

Both business owners and equipment providers who visit the website can check out the FAQ section to find the answers to any questions that they might have. They can also contact Quikfund directly through the Contact Us form available online.

About Quikfund
Established in 2005, Quikfund is a privately held company specialising in business equipment financing for small-to-medium enterprises. The company?s lease, hire purchase and rental services help SMEs cost-effectively source critical business systems. Quikfund also excels at giving business equipment providers a finance solution that boosts their efficiencies while reducing their cost base.

Death toll in Yemen bombing rises to 38 soldiers

SANAA, Yemen (AP) ? Officials say the death toll from a suicide bombing at a military parade rehearsal in the capital Sanaa has risen to 38 troops.

The military officials say the Monday's bombing near Sanaa's presidential palace is one of the deadliest attacks in the city in months.

They said the attacker was a soldier taking part in the drill, lining up with fellow troops at a main square in the capital.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

SANAA, Yemen (AP) ? A suicide bomber blew himself up at a military parade drill in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Monday, killing at least 20 soldiers and wounding scores of others in what was one of the deadliest attacks in the city in months, officials and witnesses said.

The attacker was a soldier who was taking part in the drill, lining up with fellow troops at a main square in the capital, not far from the presidential palace, said the officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

The bomber detonated his explosives minutes before the arrival of the defense minister and the chief of staff, who were expected to greet the troops, the officials said. The drill was a rehearsal for a parade for the celebration of Yemen's National Day on Tuesday.

The attack left a scene of carnage, with scores of bleeding soldiers lying on the ground as ambulances rushed to the scene.

Meanwhile, Yemeni security officials said three U.S. Coast Guard trainers came under attack on Sunday by militants belonging to an al-Qaida front group in the Red Sea port city of Hodeida.

The three Americans were traveling in a car near their hotel when the militants pulled up in another vehicle and sprayed them with machinegun fire. One was injured, the officials said Monday, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

In Sanaa, no one immediately claimed responsibility for Monday's suicide bombing, but the soldiers targeted were mostly troops from Yemen's Central Security, a paramilitary force commanded by Yahya Saleh, a nephew of ousted president, Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Saleh stepped down in February as part of a U.S.-backed power-transfer deal brokered by Gulf Arab countries. It gave Saleh immunity from prosecution in return for relinquishing his power.

Since then, the new president, Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, has pledged to restructure the army and purge it from Saleh's family members and loyalists suspected of hindering reforms.

Hadi has also vowed to step up the fight against al-Qaida, which expanded its foothold after exploiting the political and security turmoil in the wake of the uprising against Saleh.

Since the revolt erupted, inspired by other Arab Spring uprisings, al-Qaida militants overran large swaths of territory and several towns and cities in the south, pushing out government forces and establishing their own rule.

In recent weeks, the army has launched a concerted effort to uproot the militants from their strongholds ? and is closely coordinating with a small contingent of U.S. troops who are helping guide the operations from inside Yemen.

What Is It?

Image: Courtesy of Hari Manoharan Stanford University/SLAC, mota.stanford.edu

The honeycomb lattice is one of nature?s favorite patterns. In the two-dimensional crystal of carbon atoms known as graph?ene, for instance, the honeycomb structure arises from bonds among the atoms. Kenjiro K. Gomes of Stanford University and his colleagues have learned to make a honeycomb material in a striking new way. They place carbon monoxide molecules at regular intervals on the surface of a copper crystal, creating an imitation graphene layer. (The added molecules appear as black dots.)

By tweaking the pattern, the researchers can investigate how variations of small-scale structure change a material?s electric properties. In the image at the left, a slightly deformed honeycomb lattice forces the electrons to behave as if they were subjected to intense magnetic fields. Such ?designer materials? may lead to the discovery of new and exotic physics.

Beijing Auto Expo breaks records

When the first Beijing International Automotive Exhibition was held 22 years ago, 216 motor vehicles were on display, including motorcycles. This year a record-high 1,125 vehicles from carmakers were showcased. 36 vehicles made by foreign carmakers and 84 cars by domestic manufacturers made their global premieres. The exhibition closed on May 2. The total exhibition area was a record as well ? an all-time high of 230,000 square meters. Volkswagen Group booked an entire hall of more than 9,600 sq m to showcase models under its eight brands Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborgini, SEAT, Skoda and Porsche. Thirty-one Volkswagen-branded models ? including the E-Bugster electric car, Cross Coupe and new Lavida making their global debuts in China ? were on display. Ford has promised to bring 15 new models to China before 2015. At the Beijing Auto Show it showed a rich lineup led by the all-new Focus and its three latest SUVs. Absent from the last Beijing Auto Show, Italian carmaker Fiat returned to the stage this year with the global debut of the Viaggio, the first model to be produced at its joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group. Anhui-based Chery Automobile Co showed 20 models at the auto show, including three models making their global premieres. The Cowin 5, Riich G2 and new Eastar, which augment Chery?s classic product portfolio of the Tiggo, QQ, A3 and G3, represent the carmaker?s increasing competitive strength. The company also showcased two new concept vehicles: the SUV TX and the energy concept @ant. BAIC Group, the partner of Daimler and Hyundai, debuted the first mid-sized sedan carrying its wholly owned Beijing marque. Almost all major car makers showed their SUVs at the exhibition. Domestic carmakers Geely and Chang?an launched their first-ever SUVs. In all, about 30 new SUV models are expected to join the marketplace this year to cash in on the booming segment.

Some 88 new-energy vehicles also appeared at the Beijing Auto Show. SAIC Motor displayed the Roewe 550 plug-in hybrid that will be put into volume production this year. The pure-electric Roewe E50 made its first public appearance. Victoria Beckham flew to Beijing to launch a limited edition Range Rover Evoque bearing her name with ?ultra-luxurious? floor mats, a four-piece luggage set and tan seats. Seat, the VW-owned brand which faces a collapsed car market in Spain, dispatched its entire board to China during the exhibition, where they fanned out across several cities to attend dealership openings and launch the marque. VW says it is opening dealerships in China at the rate of two a week. BMW is adding at least one dealership a week there and will have 350 by the end of the year, the same number as in the U.S. Last year new car sales in China totaled 18.5 million units, retaining the country?s top position for the third consecutive year, but growth slowed to 2.5% from strong double-digit growth in 2009 and 2010. In the first quarter this year, the numbers actually fell as 1.25% fewer passenger vehicles were sold than in the same period last year, according to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). The rest of the year is expected to be better. Industry consultancy IHS forecasts that passenger vehicle sales in China will increase about 8% this year and LMC Automotive projects 9% growth.

Sword to the Government's Throat: Colorado Supreme Court - 5-14 ...

Sword to the Government's Throat: Colorado Supreme Court - 5-14-12 - People v. Angel skip to main | skip to sidebar

Colorado Supreme Court - 5-14-12 - People v. Angel

People v. Angel???????? Work Product Facts: In El Paso County, Colorado, three police officers went to a motel to arrest someone on an arrest warrant. They claimed they saw the suspect sitting the backseat of a car with three other people. The cops surrounded the car which prompted the driver to put the car in gear. One of the cops claimed the car ran over his foot. So, of course, the cop shot the driver (the opinion did not disclose any details of any injury to the cop). However, the driver managed to then drive away, and drive long enough to get away. The driver ended up still in the car at a hospital some 3 hours later. The DAs supposedly investigated the case, and white washed the cop shooting the driver. However, they charged Ms. Angel with vehicular eluding and other charges (theory: she drove the car after the driver died). As part of the DAs white wash of the cop shooting, they compiled witness interview notes and created a power point presentation. Ms. Angel sought the notes and power point in the cop shooting. The trial court ordered disclosure of the notes and power point. The trial court reasoned that work product only includes the case in which the prosecution charged Ms. Angel, and work product does not encompass notes, impressions, etc. from other cases such as the cop shooting the unarmed driver. Issue: Whether the trial court abused its discretion by ordering disclosure of work product in another criminal investigation/case? Reasoning: The Colorado Supreme Court held work product covers any case or investigation. ?The rule, Colorado Rules of Criminal Procedure, Rule 16(I)(e)(1), reads, ?Disclosure shall not be required of legal research or of records, correspondence, reports, or memoranda to the extent that they contain the opinions, theories, or conclusions of the prosecuting attorney or members of his legal staff.? ??????????? The Colorado Supreme Court repudiated the reasoning of the trial court, ?The purpose of the work product doctrine is to protect the mental impressions and legal analysis of the attorney, so that she may properly analyze the merits of and prepare for the disposition of her client?s case.? Thus, ?[T]he purpose of Crim. P. 16(I)(e)(1)? is to provide prosecutors with a degree of privacy in which they? may? candidly and thoroughly evaluate legal claims and strategies.? If we were to hold that Crim. P. 16(I)(e)(1), applies only to protect opinion work product created in anticipation of the case before the court, then a prosecutor, when investigating a criminal episode in the future, would have a substantial incentive to refrain from candidly and thoroughly evaluating a case for fear that her mental impressions, legal analysis, and trial strategies would be discoverable by defendants in future cases.? Engadget Podcast 293 - 05.11.2012

Looking for the real dirt behind all the salacious, earth-shaking news from the Cellular Telephone Industries Association's 2012 throwdown? You won't find it here, and that's only because you won't find it anywhere, because there wasn't any. What we can offer instead, though, is a recording of two men having a startlingly civil and even-tempered discussion about the issues such a dearth leaves in its wake. The men then take your questions, and it's an Engadget Podcast, the Grey Poupon of the technology podcasting community.

Facebook Adds ?Good Enough? File Sharing To All Groups. Dropbox Should Worry About Growth

Facebook File SharingToday Facebook begins rolling out file sharing to all Groups, and while it's got many restrictions, it could be good enough to limit the long-term growth potential of cloud storage / file sharing services like?Dropbox, iCloud, and Google Drive. Music and any copyright files aren't allowed and file size is capped at 25mb, as Mashable first reported. But this is just the first version, and you can be sure Facebook will keep hacking away at it. Last month, the social network started letting users share files within?Groups for Schools, but now we confirmed with Facebook that within a few days all Facebook users should have the option to upload and share files from the Groups post composer.

Intel knocks ARM's legacy app dilemma in Windows 8, says it has a 'big uphill fight' ahead

Intel CEO Paul Otellini

Intel has typically kept its cool in responding to Windows 8 on ARM, but that war of words (and chips) just got a little more heated at an investor meeting. CEO Paul Otellini saw his more mobile-oriented competition facing a "big uphill fight" without the presence of legacy Windows app support. That's a big drawback for corporate buyers that have legions of traditional apps they want to keep running, the executive said. He also used the opportunity to rib ARM over a lack of any existing Windows hardware. There's certainly no question that Intel has a head start in Windows 8 support, but the remarks do come with a degree of irony. Intel is cutting into ARM's territory with Atom-based Android phones, and while it won't have as much of a problem with legacy OS support as ARM will with Windows, Intel has a lot to prove on its own.
