DreamWorks animation group to have Chinese connection

The DreamWorks Animation group has announced a joint venture with Chinese film companies, China Media Capital, Shanghai Media Group and Shanghai Alliance Investment.

The venture should establish the leading Chinese family entertainment company.

It is anticipated the group will be known as Oriental DreamWorks and will engage in developing original Chinese animated and live action content.

Distribution is initially planned for China and its territories before beginning around the globe.

The joint venture will also branch into live entertainment, theme parks, interactive games for phones and computers and other consumer products.

DreamWorks Animation has already enjoyed great success in China, led by its blockbuster "Kung Fu Panda."
